Michael Siy is a practicing artist and industrial designer living in Vancouver, BC. His work is focused on the composition of architectural details and the emotive qualities of form.
Michael began his studies in art and design at Langara College's Fine Art program in 2008. There he developed his design sensibilities, a woodworking practice and a series of architectural mixed-media drawings that he continues today.
In 2014, Michael received his Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Design from the Emily Carr University of Art and Design. His study at ECUAD was driven by a focus on modern furniture and entrepreneurship that led him to co-found the design-and-build firm, Higher Works Ltd. in 2013. His work at HW specializes in the design and manufacture of architectural millwork, furniture, and fine woodwork.
Through the lens of art, design, and construction, Michael looks to explore the depth of how we as people relate to forms, spaces, and objects and to express those ideas through his work.
